After completing his Doctorate in Medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, Dr. Rubinstein completed his first year Residency in Internal Medicine at Abington Memorial Hospital and a second Residency year in General Surgery at Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia. His third year and Chief Residency was fulfilled at the world-renowned Thomas Jefferson University, where he specialized in Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He completed additional training so as to become a Fellow of numerous Academies. Dr. Rubinstein is a Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He received his International Board of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery certificate in 1991.
Dr. Rubinstein has been honored as a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Academy of Aesthetic and Restorative Surgery, the American Academy of Liposuction Surgery, the American Academy of Hair Restoration Surgery and as an Associate Fellow of the American Society of Cosmetic Breast Surgery. Dr. Rubinstein was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of the Spanish Society of Aesthetic Surgery, Honorary Professor of the South East Asia College of Cosmetic Surgery and Fellow of the Vietnam Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Rubinstein actively serves his community in many civil organizations and has been selected to serve as a Federal Medical Officer in the National Disaster Medical System, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (previously the U.S. Department of Homeland Security). He also enjoys volunteering his medical expertise in underdeveloped countries and has treated thousands of patients in Haiti, Mexico and numerous countries in South America.
Dr. Leonard A. Rubinstein has become one of the foremost teachers of “Liposculpting" and "Liposhifting" and is a frequently invited speaker at national and international symposia, sharing the platform with other distinguished Faculty like Dr. Ivo Pintanguy (Brazil), Dr. Pierre Fournier (France) and Dr. Giorgio Fisher (Italy). Dr. Rubinstein was selected as one of only eight of the world’s experts on Liposuction to serve on the faculty of the 30 Year Anniversary Congress on Liposuction held in Rome, Italy, in the Fall of 2006. Dr. Rubinstein's unique integrated technique of Liposuction Body Contour Enhancement combining Eastern and Western Medicine concepts has gained him worldwide recognition as a master surgeon. RejuvLIFT™… This new outpatient facelift technique uses tiny hidden incisions combined with Contour Threads™ (the only FDA- cleared barbed sutures) to lift your tissues into a more youthful appearance. Performed under local anesthesia, the RejuvLIFT(tm) provides a “lifting effect” that can elevate the brows, cheeks and mid face for a natural more youthful you. Now even the abdomen, thighs and upper arms can be treated with this technique for long-lasting results without the downtime associated with other procedures.
RejuvLIPOSCULPT ultrasonic-assisted Liposculpting procedure using Vaser™ ultrasound technology. Dr. Rubinstein is one the few doctors in the United States and the first surgeon in Sarasota and Manatee Counties to be performing and teaching this new patented technology and advanced surgical procedure. This unique form of liposuction uses ultrasound to melt and break up fatty tissue that is then gently suctioned out using tiny cannulas. Post-operatively a series of soothing vibratory percussive massages are then performed to further smoothen the tissue.
